NEED to get your baby
to sleep? Put it in a pouch and get moving.
The latest mum and bub fitness craze to
hit the Gold Coast is already proving a hit because all the babies are sound
asleep by the end of the one-hour session.
Kanga Training, which gets in name from
putting a “joey” in the pouch like a kangaroo, has made its way to the Coast
after taking off in Austria and expanding around the world.
Instructors Rhonda Maxwell and Alicia
Drake offer classes at Oxenford, Southport, Broadbeach and Burleigh for mums
who love to wear their baby while they exercise.
Women do choreographed dance and core
and pelvic floor exercises while bonding with their bub.
Ms Maxwell started in stroller group
workouts when she had baby Brooklyn 16 months ago but was looking to include
her more.

Now a babywearing consultant with
Babywearing Education Australia, Ms Maxwell said she was trying to promote the
concept.
“I’m really trying to get baby wearing
into mainstream or to get it recognised on the Gold Coast as a viable way for
mum and bub bonding,” Ms Maxwell said.
“A lot of people don’t know what it is.
It’s just wearing your baby close in a carrier or sling and it’s a really good
bonding tool for mums, and dads as well.
“It’s good for mums dealing with
post-natal depression.”
Parkwood mum Erin Lovas said she loved
Kanga Training with six-month-old Delilah.
“I wanted to be able to do something
with her because there’s not a lot out there for mums and babies,” Ms Lovas
said.
“This is something new and different.
She falls asleep every time.”
Casual classes are $15 and can be
booked through gold coastkangatraining.com or kangatraininggoldcoast. com.au
